Title IX Compliance

“No person…shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”  -Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any educational program or activity.  It protects victims of sexual or gender-based discrimination and harassment, as well as survivors of sexual violence. Protection from sex discrimination also includes protection against retaliation for filing a complaint of sex discrimination or harassment.

The Sullivan West Central School District is committed to complying with Title IX and enforcing District policies prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex. The District prohibits all forms of sexual or gender-based discrimination and harassment by employees, students, school volunteers, and third parties, such as contractors and vendors, from occurring on school grounds or at any school-sponsored events or activities.
